Lenscratch
Across the United States, deep divisions and shifting realities are reshaping the social and political landscape. Fault Lines: America seeks photographic work that examines the tensions, fractures, and transformations unfolding across the nation today.

We invite photographers to respond to themes of resistance, social change, civic engagement, and the challenges facing democratic institutions. Images might address protest and activism, the erosion or defense of democratic ideals, struggles for justice and equality, or the visible and invisible consequences of political and cultural conflict. Photographers may also explore quieter expressions of uncertainty, resilience, community, and hope that emerge in times of upheaval.

This call welcomes documentary, conceptual, and personal approaches. Work may bear witness to events in the public sphere or reflect on how larger political forces shape everyday life. Photographers might examine questions of identity, power, freedom, and belonging, or reveal the emotional landscape of a country negotiating its future.

Through Fault Lines: America, we hope to gather photographs that confront difficult truths, spark dialogue, and illuminate the forces that are redefining the American experience.

As juror Norm Diamond states:

What occupies my thoughts for a good part of every day is the state of our country and its descent into fascism. This is the most important story of the 21st century. If we survive what is happening, historians a hundred years from now will be studying how we as a country failed. Many are now suffering: immigrants, minorities, women, LGBTQ individuals, those who cannot afford healthcare or feed their families, and many others. My children and grandchildren will be directly affected and probably their future generations, even if the madness were to stop right now.

This is a juried exhibition. Jurors are Norm Diamond and Marcy Palmer.
