Fotografia EuropaFotografia Europea has opened its call for entries for the new edition entitled Fantasmi del Quotidiano (Ghosts of the Moment), which will be held in Reggio Emilia from 30 April to 14 June 2026.
The Open Call is made possible thanks to the support of Iren, already a special sponsor of the festival, which supports the search for new talent and new perspectives on contemporary reality.
CONCEPT
What if every photograph were capable of revealing what everyday life hides?
Our daily lives are inhabited by presences that never cease to speak to us. Ghosts of the Moment invites us to recognise them, to give shape to what remains invisible, to what persists over time. Because every photograph is a threshold — a passageway to new paths for the imagination.
The 2026 edition of Fotografia Europea is an invitation to question the shadows of reality, to explore the subtle interval between what disappears and what continues to exist in images, thoughts and memories.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Photographers, curators and collectives of any age and origin may apply, provided they were born or reside in Europe.
DEADLINES AND SELECTION
Applications must be received by Friday, 9 January 2026, at 1:00 p.m. (Italian time).
Projects will be evaluated by a jury composed of the festival curators, and the results of the selection will be announced by the end of January 2026.
Those selected will receive a prize of € 3,000 for the production of the exhibition (see Terms and Conditions) and support from the festival for the design and organisation of the exhibition. The exhibition will be included in the official programme of Fotografia Europea 2026.
COMMITMENTS OF SELECTED ARTISTS
Those selected must:
– guarantee the authenticity and originality of the project (if AI has been used to generate or substantially manipulate the images, this must be indicated);
– collaborate in the production and setting up of the exhibition;
– take care of the transport and packaging of the works (round trip);
– provide materials for the catalogue and communication within the required deadlines;
– participate in the opening and, if possible, in meetings or visits with the public.
The Festival offers:
– A dedicated exhibition space;
– Set-up and dismantling coordinated with the artist/curator/collective;
– Insurance for the works during the period of the exhibition;
– Promotion of the exhibition on all official Fotografia Europea channels.
If you want, I can also translate it into French with the same formatting.
