ExhibitionWhat does it mean to deconstruct in an era of constant transformation? In a world where change has become our only constant, the act of deconstruction emerges as both a critical methodology and a reflection of our contemporary condition. As traditional boundaries blur and certainties dissolve, we find ourselves simultaneously witnessing and participating in the perpetual dismantling and rebuilding of meaning. This dialectic between destruction and creation, between fragmentation and wholeness, opens new pathways for artistic exploration and philosophical inquiry. As philosopher and essayist Jacques Derrida once stated, “Deconstruction is not destruction; deconstruction is an opportunity to open texts, to discover implicit meanings.”
We invite photographers to engage with the theme "de-constructed" through the approach that lies at the heart of their own personal practice. Through architectural documentation, artists might explore how our built environment embodies the tension between permanence and transience, revealing the poetry inherent in spaces of transition and demolition. In examining social structures, photography becomes a tool to witness the dissolution of traditional hierarchies and the emergence of new forms of community and connection. The personal dimension offers ground for investigating moments of vulnerability and reformation, where identity itself becomes fluid and subject to reconstruction. Visual experimentation with photographic processes - from fragmentation to layering, from digital manipulation to analog deconstruction - mirrors our fragmentary experience of contemporary reality. Cultural deconstruction invites us to question inherited narratives and challenge established ways of seeing, while ecological approaches might address the decomposition and regeneration cycles in nature. Memory and time themselves become subjects for deconstruction, as photographers explore how images can simultaneously preserve and transform our understanding of the past.
Embracing this multiplicity of approaches and others yet unexplored, we welcome works that challenge conventional perspectives, revealing how photography can deconstruct and reconstruct our perception of reality.
Participating artists will be selected through an international jury of artists and curators. The call is open to all ages, nationalities and backgrounds.
Series as well as individual images are accepted.
