BirdoEntries for the Birdo Bird Photographer of the Year 2025 international photo contest will be starting March 10, 2025. Launched four years ago, the competition aims to inspire people worldwide to marvel at the diversity and beauty of birdlife. In 2024, entries were submitted from 30 countries, and this year, the organizers aim to expand the reach even further. This global perspective enriches the competition, enhances participants' experiences, and offers audiences a chance to discover a wider variety of bird species, natural habitats, and photography traditions from different cultures. Everyone benefits!
The contest is open to photographers of all skill levels and ages. In 2025, bird photographers will compete in 9 + 1 categories, with no entry fee.
The additional category, Conservation, focuses on projects that promote bird and habitat protection. With this category and the contest as a whole, the organizers aim to highlight the vulnerability of birds and emphasize the shared responsibility of nature conservation. Each year, one winning photo series is awarded in the Conservation category.
In the individual photo categories, Birdo selects two highly rated images per category, awards prizes to the top three, and presents the grand prizes. The overall winner receives the prestigious title Birdo Bird Photographer of the Year along with the grand prize. Photographers under 21 can compete for the Birdo Young Bird Photographer of the Year title and its respective grand prize.
The Birdo Bird Photograph of the Year is selected from the winning images, chosen for its striking visual impact and ability to raise awareness for bird conservation and appreciation.
The two-round competition is open for submissions until May 17, 2025. A professional international jury will conduct a preliminary selection before scoring the finalists, determining the ultimate winners.
The award ceremony will take place in November 15, 2025 at the Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden and will be broadcast live in both Hungarian and English.
Total prizes value of 6.000 EUR
